Nestled in the Santa Cruz Mountain range between scenic San Gregorio State Beach and the rustic town of La Honda is the celebrated OVY Camp & Event Center.
Privately owned and operated by the nonprofit Optimist Volunteers for Youth, Inc., for the better part of a century, the OVY Camp was established in 1952 to provide a safe, enjoyable, and educational camping experience and enrich children’s lives with lasting positive memories.
The OVY Summer Camp program is open to all San Francisco Bay Area children in 4th through 8th grades regardless of economic background.
During a week of adventure, campers participate in a variety of activities where they learn how to work in a team, gain hands-on environmental awareness, experience nature, build character, and have fun in the process!
Campers attend camp on scholarships awarded by the nonprofit Optimist Volunteers for Youth, Inc., from fundraising conducted throughout the year. Campers and camp sessions are sponsored by generous individual and corporate donations, as well as Bingo games conducted at cooperating locations in the Bay Area, and other efforts.
During the school year, OVY Camp partners with Vida Verde, another nonprofit organization, to provide weekly camping to schools from disadvantaged communities. www.vveducation.org
When camp is not in session, the ample facilities, scenic trails and natural backdrop of the OVY Camp & Event Center transform into a private venue. The OVY Camp is a retreat for businesses, families and churches; a venue for weddings, private parties, event promoters, and summer camp programs organized by other non-profit organizations and members of the Bay Area community.
